POLICE OFFICER - Qualified persons are invited to apply to the New Brighton Borough Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a police officer in the New Brighton Area Police Department. An application form and details of the selection process may be obtained online by completing the form below or at the Police Department, 610 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Completed applications must be returned by 4:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026. The $35.00 application fee payable to the Borough of New Brighton is waived for this application cycle.
Requirements: Residency within a 15-mile radius of New Brighton required within 18 months of appointment. Applicants must be PA Act 120 certified prior to appointment, possess a High School diploma or equivalent, hold a PA Class C operator’s license or equivalent, be a U.S. citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer, and meet all other Civil Service requirements.
The physical agility test and written examination will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The written examination will be administered at 9:00 AM (arrive at 8:30 AM) at the New Brighton Borough Municipal Building, 610 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066. The physical agility test will occur following the completion of the written examination at the Brady’s Run Park Recreational Facility, 121 Brady’s Run Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. Other mandatory components of the exam are an oral examination, a background check, a post offer medical examination, and a post offer psychological examination.
